On June 9, 2022, Slater Vecchio LLP filed a Notice of Civil Claim for alleged violations of the Business Practices and Consumer Protection Act and related provincial enactments by online hotel reservation services.
This potential class action seeks to represent all Canadians who booked a hotel reservation online through Hotwire.com, Reservations.com, and Accor. This potential class action alleges that certain online reservation booking services advertised lower prices for hotel stays through their search functionality than was ultimately reflected at checkout.
A class action is a vehicle through which a group of individuals who have suffered a loss can receive compensation from those responsible for that loss.
This class action is brought on behalf of Individuals in Canada (except for Quebec) who purchased a stay on one of the above hotel websites and were advertised a lower initial price than what was paid. These individuals are referred to as “Class Members”. Individuals who fit any of these criterium do not need to do anything to formally become Class Members; they are automatically represented by the lawsuit.
Class Members should keep or find any receipts they have from their hotel purchase.
If you purchased a hotel stay on one of these websites or want to know more about this class action, we invite you to submit your information through the “Contact Form” on this webpage and a representative from Slater Vecchio LLP will reach out to you.
