James U. Buckley

James Buckley was called to the bar in 1996. He is part of the original Slater Vecchio team dating back to 1998, and a partner since 2007.

James is an experienced trial lawyer and has achieved outstanding verdicts for his clients in judge and jury trials. These include exceptional outcomes on liability and some of the largest damages awards in the Province. James is also a seasoned negotiator and achieves extraordinary results for his clients who choose to settle their cases before trial. His practice is made up of a wide range of cases including those involving severe injuries and significant traumatic brain injuries.

James devotes a significant part of his practice to cases involving injury and trauma suffered by children from lack of supervision, neglect, sexual abuse, school and recreational injuries and motor vehicle and other accidents. James is truly honoured to represent and assist injured children and their families or guardians in pursuing their legal rights.

James has chaired and lectured at Trial Lawyers Association of British Columbia (TLABC) and Continuing Legal Education (CLE) seminars on topics including jury trials, personal injury trial techniques, brain injury cases, and the use of experts at trial. James has published articles in TLABC’s “The Verdict” and is on the Board of CLEBC’s BC MVA Claims Practice Manual where he takes up the work done by Mike Slater for many years. James is a Founding Board Member of the Team Finn Foundation, a pediatric cancer fundraising and advocacy group and a Ride to Conquer Cancer team.
