On September 27, 2023, Canada’s Competition Bureau announced that The Dufresne Group and its affiliates, who control the online sale of Dufresne’s and Ashley HomeStore’s homeware products in Canada, breached the Competition Act, RSC 1985, c C-34 through the way that they represented the sales price of their homeware products. In particular, the Competition Bureau stated that these companies “offered certain products at inflated regular prices and then advertised them at big discounts, suggesting significant savings to consumers.”
