Triage Emergency Shelter

In December 2009, the firm held a warm clothing drive in collaboration with Kate Dugas. Inspired by the thousands of homeless Vancouverites that struggle to survive the winter, Kate began a warm clothing collection program. With nothing but an old van, a need for change and a community blog entitled "Change Everything," Kate commenced the first successful clothing drive in 2006. Four years later, the program is still growing.

The theme for this year's collection was "Got Socks?" Warm dry socks can be such a crucial component in keeping someone warm and, in extreme cases, keeping someone alive. With the conviction to counteract this winter's unforgiving temperatures, the staff of Slater Vecchio challenged the firm to match each and every sock donation that was received. The firm was true to their word and matched each of the 146 pairs of socks that the staff brought in. In total, 292 pairs of socks were collected for the people of the downtown east side.

The staff of Slater Vecchio also donated enough warm jackets, sweaters, gloves etc. to fill Kate's van. The clothes were immediately distributed to the Triage Emergency Shelter who gratefully accepted the donations.

If you are interested in starting a warm clothing/sock drive or initiating any type of social change, please visit their website- below.
